Improve music video production with wireless transmission and communication

Improve music video production with wireless transmission and communication
Neon lights, loud music, and three cameras capturing the action simultaneously: that was the scene facing the team led by Bayron Giraldo in Medellín.

Colombian filmmaker Bayron Giraldo and his team at Bandresss shot a series of music videos in Medellín, featuring nighttime lighting and a high-energy, loud atmosphere.

The production involved shooting six music videos for a Colombian artist, using three cameras simultaneously and a central monitoring station to capture different angles and shots for each song. Filming took place at night under neon lights, which added complexity to image control and the workflow.

This type of shoot, with demanding lighting conditions and a creative team comprising various roles (director, camera operators, and photographer), presents teams with coordination and supervision challenges that require technical solutions going beyond simple image capture.

Hollyland

Integration of wireless solutions for efficient workflows

To meet these demands, the team utilized tools from Hollyland’s wireless production ecosystem, combining video signal transmission with communication among crew members on set.

In particular, Pyro S transmitters were used to distribute the signal from the main and artist cameras to four different receivers with a stable signal, which allowed the monitoring station to receive multiple feeds simultaneously without cables or interruptions.

In addition, the Solidcom SE Global Version communication system allowed the director and camera operators to stay in constant contact, even when they were spread out across different areas of the set, without having to rely on shouting or visual cues.

These tools yielded tangible benefits in terms of organization and efficiency:

  • Wireless monitoring: The cameras' stable transmission enabled continuous technical monitoring from a central location without relying on physical connections.
  • Smooth communication within the team: coordination between the director and the operators was constant and clear, despite the high levels of noise and movement on set.
  • Stability in complex environments: Both video streaming and communications remained consistent even in the presence of interference typical of an environment with multiple active wireless devices.

Impact on the visual narrative

For the production director, these tools not only improved the logistics of the shoot but also optimized the ability to make creative decisions in real time. Being able to remotely control cameras and monitor multiple feeds simultaneously reduced downtime, improved the team’s focus, and contributed to a smoother execution of visual ideas in each shot.

This case demonstrates that, in music and entertainment productions with demanding lighting and timing requirements, integrating wireless transmission and communication solutions from the planning stage can make a significant difference in the technical execution and the quality of the final result.
