José Matiella de Arrigunaga
I’ve been in the creative industry for over 25 years. I started out in 2D and 3D animation when Mexico’s most demanding studios were still using Smoke and Flame. I learned the trade in an environment where mistakes are costly: high-end advertising. In 2007, I co-founded Bionika, where I moved away from flat screens to explore physical space—video mapping, sensors, and real-time content. There, I produced ESPN’s Upfront for three consecutive years, featuring massive-scale interactive installations. I realized that space can be the medium, not just the stage. In 2013, I founded voidXR with a single question: How do you design an experience that visitors need to share? Not one they like—one they need to share. Today, I lead immersive experience projects for museums, LBE destinations, and real estate firms in Mexico and Latin America. I don’t delegate either the concept or the production. I understand the curator’s narrative brief and can translate it into concrete technical specifications. That dual language is what sets voidXR apart from studios that are purely creative or purely technical. Recent projects: Mundo Charro (complete design of 16 attractions for a theme park), Museo del Estanquillo 20th Anniversary (immersive experience featuring an AI model trained on the Monsiváis collection), AXE · FIFA World Cup 2026 (audio-reactive video mapping on the Estanquillo façade), Hotel Sofitel CDMX (inaugural show that generated buzz all the way from Paris). If you run a museum, an LBE, or a real estate project and want visitors to leave with a story they can’t stop sharing.
