In the world of architecture, audiovisual technology has ceased to be a simple complement to become a pillar of modern design.

The integration of AV solutions in architectural spaces not only improves the functionality and aesthetics of buildings, but also enhances the user experience.

The convergence between architecture and AV technology

Architects are looking to create spaces that are not only visually appealing, but also smart and efficient. This is where AV solutions play a key role:

  • Displays and videowalls: Ideal for lobbies, conference rooms and auditoriums, providing dynamic and customizable information.
  • Automation systems: They allow centralized control of lighting, sound and air conditioning, optimizing energy efficiency.
  • Immersive audio solutions: Create immersive atmospheres in hotels, museums and commercial spaces.
  • Control and monitoring rooms: Facilitate the management of large infrastructures, such as airports or convention centers.

"Audiovisual systems are becoming increasingly important for us architects, helping us in the creation and experience of designed spaces. I believe that, with these new technologies, we create visual and sensory spaces different from traditional architecture," said architect Raissa Fornasier Slomski, of the Brazilian company On Projeções.

Functional design with AV technology

Modern architectural design demands technological solutions that not only beautify spaces, but also make them functional.

Some key aspects include unobtrusive integration, where the technology must be part of the design without invading it, using embedded or modular solutions.

Raissa says: "I design projector positioning projects for mapped projections and LED panels, making immersive exhibitions in museums, galleries, designing facades and diverse environments together with technicians and content creation artists, to create unique spaces but without affecting them, enriching the user experience".

Another important point is adaptability and flexibility, with systems that can be easily upgraded or modified over time.

Not forgetting sustainability, when we have AV solutions that optimize energy consumption and reduce the carbon footprint, and finally the user experience, offering designs focused on interaction and ease of use.

"In the company, we work with energy-efficient LED panels, we reuse materials such as projection screens and we are also implementing new recycling actions for the packaging that comes with the equipment. We also properly dispose of electronic equipment that no longer works and damaged cables," the architect emphasized when talking about sustainability.

Architectural AV applications and trends

Current trends in AV technology applied to architecture include:

  • Smart buildings with IoT: Sensors and connected technologies for space automation.
  • Augmented and virtual reality: Tools for design and presentation of architectural projects.
  • AV for inclusiveness: Simultaneous translation systems and audiovisual accessibility.
  • Interactive spaces: Museums, stores and offices that respond to the user's movement and voice.

"With virtual reality and augmented reality tools, for example, we can insert our clients into spaces before they are even built," Raissa added.

Architecture without AV is not possible

The evolution of architecture is linked to technological development, and the AV is a key ally to create functional, innovative and attractive spaces. Incorporating audiovisual technology from the design phase to optimize the user experience and ensure more efficient buildings and adapted to the future.

Architect for 10 years, Raissa agrees: "Working in an audiovisual company is a dynamic and challenging experience, where technology and creativity come together. Every day new projects arise, from the integration of intelligent systems in buildings to the production of immersive events with high quality sound and image".

"Beyond the technical aspect, it is rewarding to see the impact that audiovisual technology has on people's daily lives. Each project brings new opportunities for learning and innovation, making the work exciting and always up to date with industry trends."
