When IT Slows Down Your AV Project: Security That's Designed, Not Patched

October 22, 2026
Education 4 - Uxmal
End User Enterprise IT Design and Integration
Your AV project is ready. Then IT reviews it and puts the brakes on: interfaces without authentication, legacy protocols, factory default credentials left unchanged. The problem isn't your design. It's that security was an afterthought, not a priority from day one.

In this session, we demonstrate something more subtle—and more dangerous—than a destructive attack: how small oversights in integration expose seemingly harmless bits of information, and how combining that data—revealed by different antivirus solutions—gives an attacker the context needed to launch a targeted and credible phishing campaign.

Working with real AV devices and an isolated network, we demonstrate how to design security into the architecture rather than as an afterthought. The hands-on exercises cover least privilege, network segmentation, encryption, and centralized credential management—the very same criteria that IT requires before giving a project the green light.

Hands-on session: Participants take part live from their own phones. No laptop or advanced networking knowledge is required.

You'll walk away with a practical guide for auditing projects, identifying common risks, and defending your designs against IT—even when the client doesn't have formal policies in place—before they get rejected.
